Actively seek ways in which a company donation can help. Possibly through Dacorum Community Trust which shares out donations to disadvantaged Dacorum residents. Or to a particular local charity or good cause.
- Set up and encourage a staff volunteering scheme. This would allow staff to participate in a vast array of local volunteer schemes whilst improving moral, motivation, team building and company profile.
- Become an environmentally friendly company. Recycle your waste paper, adopt a car sharing policy, be a good neighbour, be a good employer.
- Promote within. Instead of advertising for new staff, up-skill an existing employee by retraining and employ either two local people on a part time basis or consider a disabled or disadvantaged person to fill the vacant position.
- Give a gift. Consider what product or service your company provides and then try to link that to a local charity.
- Offer support to a small or start-up company. Be proud of your excellence, show of your skills in marketing, finance, IT, manufacturing, etc to help a new or struggling company expand.
- Promote the CSR activities of your company. Join the ever increasing group of large, medium and small employers that are proud of their involvement in their local community.
