Dacorum Business Awards 2005 PDF Print E-mail

This years Dacorum Business Awards were celebrated at a black tie event at Ashlyns School at the end of August.

The Hemel Hempstead Gazette, Hillier Hopkins, Dacorum Borough Council and Kall Kwik sponsored the awards.  Each of the ten categories was then sponsored individually.

ImageProfessional DJ Phil Gomm was master of ceremonies with Kriss Akabusi as the star guest.

The event was attended by Dacorum’s Mayor together with many other dignitaries, prominent people and representatives from many of Dacorum’s Businesses.

The ten categories were Businesswoman of the Year, Employee of the Year, Team of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Most Innovative use of Technology, Small Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, Business Training Award, Business of the Year and finally the category that is most associated with CSR, the Community Business of the Year.

The CSR project was proud to see a large amount of entrants for this category this year, demonstrating how proud these companies are of their community involvement.

Sadly it meant that only five of these companies could be selected as finalists. Many companies were disappointed, however this will not deter them for continuing their excellent work within the local community.

Epson (UK) ltd, Vinci Park Services UK ltd and Freshbins UK ltd were each given Highly Commended Awards for their contribution to the local community over the past year.

William Sutton Housing Association was awarded Runner Up spot for their tireless efforts and involvements with many local projects.

The Winner this year was DSG International (formerly dixons group plc ), they had selected seven local charities and good causes and assisted them by giving staff time, gifts and money. In Addition they have good environment policies and are keen to be actively seen as a company with a broad Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

So if you would like to win next years award, then now is the time to build up your own portfolio of good CSR practices.
